NINDS Publication Series

NINDS publications are divided into series based on purpose and focus. The Institute’s collections of fact sheets provide in-depth information on a variety of neurological disorders, for example. Please see below for more information.

  • Brain Basics

    A set of publications for non-scientists, each one aimed at exploring a specific neurological concept. The series includes Know Your Brain, Preventing Stroke, Understanding Sleep, and The Life and Death of a Neuron.

  • Fact Sheets

    Each fact sheet offers an overview of a neurological disorder and discusses topics such as common symptoms, methods of diagnosis, and available therapies. Readers can also learn more about relevant NINDS-funded research and find sources of additional information.

  • Fact Sheets (Spanish)

    NINDS Spanish-language fact sheets that provide overviews of a variety of disorders and discuss common symptoms, methods of diagnosis, and available therapies. Readers can also learn more about relevant NINDS-funded research and find sources of additional information.

  • Hope Through Research

    Booklets that provide in-depth information about the causes, symptoms, treatments, and risk factors of a variety of neurological disorders. Relevant research funded by the NINDS is also discussed.

  • Hope Through Research (Spanish)

    Hope Through Research booklets in Spanish that provide in-depth information about the causes, symptoms, treatments, and risk factors of a variety of neurological disorders. Each brochure also discusses relevant research funded by the NINDS.

  • Know Stroke Materials

    The Know Stroke campaign materials are available in a variety of formats, including brochures, television and radio public service announcements (PSAs), videos, and posters. These public education materials on stroke are available for free from NINDS.

  • Know Stroke Materials for Health Professionals

    Educational materials designed for health care professionals involved in treatment of acute stroke. The materials can be ordered in single copies or in larger quantities and can be used in medical schools, educational settings, hospitals, clinics, and other health care facilities.
